Enviroplug® TV Shield intercepts any TV remote control signal to put the set in standby; instead, it cuts all power to the TV. It is just as easy to turn the TV back on – simply press the standby button again. Because it replaces an existing power strip, Enviroplug® TV Shield allows multiple devices to be switched off with the same remote control – VCR, games console, DVD player, Freeview box – all at the same time and without leaving the settee. There's even built-in surge protection so you can be sure your equipment is safe from power spikes.A small infra-red detector is connected to the Enviroplug® and is placed next to the TV. To “train” the TV Shield, disconnect the mains supply and unplug any appliances plugged in. Switch power at the mains socket on, off and on again and the remote detector will flash intermittently. Point the TV remote control at the detector and press the standby button. The detector will stop flashing. The Enviroplug® is “off”, so all appliances can now be plugged back in. Press and hold the remote control standby button for a few seconds and power is restored. If the TV is still off, press a channel number on the remote control and it will power up.
